Dermatologists throughout the US say that anywhere from 15% - 50% of people that get tattoos later regret them. People who have had a tattoo decide to get them removed for a lot of reasons. A lot of tattoo remorse patients have just gotten older and have found their kids asking why they have a picture of a butterfly and flames or ask, “who’s josh?”. Doctor’s note that there are a high number of hip laser removals where jeans have gotten lower.
Whether a mom, college kid, or executive is getting the removal the facts remain the same. It’s about as painful to remove as when it was applied for display. The cost can be expensive due to the fact that any current tattoo laser removal treatment requires more than one treatment. Some tattoo removals can take up to 15 sessions for full removal. After all that work of getting the tattoo laser zapped you can still end up with lasting scars. For most patients they can get away with minimal scarring and no tattoo.
Doctors around the country are claiming boosts in business in the last couple of years. With a quick look at the trend information from Google you can see the trend is possibly a little higher for the year. A close look at the trend and you can see the jump in the summer time. Swimming suits seem to bring out the removal bug in a lot of us.
Technology and advancements in techniques are revolutionizing the tattoo removal industry. New inks are being introduced to the market that allow someone with a tattoo to get a removal in one laser treatment. The ink is made to basically explode and be instantly absorbed by the body through the lymphatic system.
As good as tattoo removal procedures are advancing some colors still remain harder to remove than others. If your sporting a four-leaf clover you’re lucky enough to have one of the top 3 colors that are hardest to remove. Yellow and purple are the other hard to remove colors. If you’re curious how the tattoo removal process works you can watch a 2 minute clip of a treatment session.

Why anyone would get a tattoo is not the issue- where you get the tattoo is everyone’s business when you get certain ones on your face, neck, etc. I say if you choose a tattoo, make it something everyone else can look at, not just a significant other. Also, if it hurt to get put on your skin, what do you expect when you get it removed???

That’s right Jim. I don’t know what some people are thinking when they get tattoos on their face. My favorite is Foot Tattoos. That way you just wear shoes and it’s covered up.
I have heard that there is a great deal of tattoo regret, especially from those that get a lover’s name tattooed somewhere on their body.
I recently read that there is removable tattoo ink in the future. So that you can get tattooed, and remove it easily. Have you heard about this?
Anyone that is stupid enough to put a lover (or even in this day and age a spouses name) shouldn’t be surprised when they are suddenly faced with the possibility of tattoo removal.
If you take your time when considering which tattoo to get, your much better off. I think to many people run right in and just have one applied without really thinking about it much, I’ve noticed that people with tattoos that are “meaningful” to them, end up loving their tattoo and it definitely feels like a part of their life, (in a good way). Give your tattoo some thought and you’ll enjoy your artwork that much more. Also, research your artist…seems like a no-brainer but this is over looked quite often. Not every artist is comfortable applying every tattoo.
Most of my friend’s with Tattoos really regret them… and they are still in their twenties. Imagine how they’re going to regret it when they reach their forties or fifties! One of the reasons I have never gotten a Tattoo (even when all my friends were getting them and claiming they were the best ever) was because I had seen what it looks like when you get older. No thanks, I don’t want to look like a washed out sailor when I’m forty or fifty. Now, ten years later, everyone is wishing they didn’t have one and I’ve got no regrets.
It seems to me there are several reasons folks are getting tattoos removed. I have seen people remove tattoos because they are going into the military and the rules are getting more and more strict on where and what type of tattoo someone can have before they start their training.
I think women are evern more likely than men to get tattoos removed because we are so used to changing our styles with every season. We often want to change the look of our tattoos as well. Several of my friends have had their tattoos faded down in order to get a more stylish look for this season.
Someons was talking about that new ink that is much easier to remove, I think that is a great idea! We can get our tattoos and then change them as we please.
